Chief Minister K. Rosaiah observed on Tuesday that peace was an essential prerequisite if fruits of development were to be enjoyed by people.

Participating in a programme to mark the World Peace Day, the Chief Minister said people would not he happy if peace did not prevail.

He expressed concern that even small incidents were leading to tension and disturbing tranquillity. “It is not good,” he emphasised. Mr. Rosaiah advised everyone, including politicians, to ponder over the issue and strive to uphold peace.

Former Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy said that although there were differences among various sections in society, all must pledge to resolve them peacefully and move ahead. Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, M. Venkataramana Rao and V. Suneetha Laxma Reddy, CPI State secretary K. Narayana, TRS legislator T. Harish Rao, Lagdapati Rajagopal, Congress MP, Telugu Desam leaders Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and Nannapaneni Rajakumari were among those who attended. All the leaders took a peace pledge administered by Chigurupati Varaprasad, president ‘Peace for all' Global Organisation.
