City Police Commissioner V. Ravinder has advised police officials to strive to reduce the road accidents by 30% in the current year.
He asked the officials to identify the accident prone areas under different police stations limits in association with the concerned departments.
Sign boards cautioning the commuters and speed limit boards to be erected at these sites, he said.
He was addressing the police personnel at the monthly crime review meeting here on Thursday.
The Commissioner also wanted the officials to take stern action against those resorting to hooliganism and extortions.
The details of rowdy elements in all the police stations should be compiled and their movements monitored.
“We should also book those committing repeat offenders under PD Act. Those already booked under the act should be ensured of conviction with proper evidence,” he said.
Residents of colonies should be motivated to install CCTV facilities in their respective areas to ensure law and order and easy identification of thieves or criminals.
The Police Commissioner wanted the personnel to visit villages regularly in view of the upcoming panchayat elections. He wanted them to maintain rapport with the villagers henceforth.
DCPs, Venkat Reddy, Malla Reddy, Venkateshwarlu, additional DCPs Ashok Kumar and Pooja, inspectors and sub-inspectors took part in the meeting.
