The Tuesday’s incident in which the question paper of SSC English paper-I was circulated on WhatsApp has prompted the School Education authorities to crack the whip on those violating the ban on carrying mobile phones into examination centres.

In a swift action, the Khammam town police on Wednesday arrested three government teachers and two private school employees of Warangal district as well as a private teacher from Khammam in connection with the SSC exam malpractice case.

Taking a serious view of similar offences that surfaced in the neighbouring Suryapet district, the School Education authorities renewed their focus on strict enforcement of the ban on mobile phones inside the exam centres to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the remaining SSC examinations.

Mobile phones seized

The authorities concerned suspended as many as seven examination staff, including three invigilators, at the SSC exam centre at Telangana Social Welfare Residential School at Kallur in Khammam district after a flying squad seized mobile phones belonging to them on the premises of the centre on Thursday.

Increased vigil

The police also increased vigil at the examination centres across the district to ensure smooth conduct of the ongoing SSC examinations.

Meanwhile, as many as 19,461 students appeared for the SSC mathematics paper-II examination held at about 96 centres in the district on Friday.

As many as 76 students abstained from the examination.
