The All India Majlis-e-Iitehadul Muslimeen has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government initiate stringent action against the Revenue Department officials for demolishing mosques, dargahs and graveyards in Krishna district in the name of road widening works.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi telephoned Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and registered his protest against the demolition of the religious structures. He alleged that the revenue authorities demolished Masjid-e-Ali situated at Eidpugalu village in Kankipadu mandal in the early hours on Sunday in spite of a stay order from the court. They forcibly remitted the “so called” compensation amount in the masjid’s bank account.
Mr. Owaisi termed the action of the authorities concerned as “illegal and arbitrary” and said no mosque could be shifted or demolished as it would become the property of Allah and even those who built it had no right to agree for its shifting or demolition. He expressed concern that the revenue authorities resorted to arbitrary demolition of several structures including the centuries old Masjid-e-Abu Bakr, Hazrat Hussain Shah Quadri and Syed Shah Quadri dargah, Jame and Tarapet Masjids and Jannatul Firdous graveyard in “utter violation” of laws for protection of religious places ignoring the pleas of AP Wakf Board.
The revenue authorities took up demolition of Nimra Masjid, Masjid-e-Bilal and Eidgah and Mohammedia graveyard at Eidpugalu village in Kankipadu mandal, Masjid-e-Tana Shah and graveyard at Nepally village and mosque and graveyard in Nidomolu village in Pamarru mandal. The AIMIM president had addressed letters to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu against these arbitrary demolition of places of worship and action of the revenue authorities in forcibly acquiring the lands for road widening and flyover works.
