The team visited industrial areas where people have been complaining about storm water drains getting polluted and thereby posing as a health hazard.
A team of GHMC Standing Committee and senior officials called for a meeting of the Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALAs) of the Industries Department and Pollution Control Board (PCB) to make sure that industrial effluents are not let into the storm water drains.
The team visited industrial areas in and around Sanathnagar, Fatehnagar, Khaitan culvert , Deendayal Nagar, Ferozguda, Navjeevannagar, Subhashnagar etc. where people have been complaining about storm water drains getting polluted and thereby posing as a health hazard.
Calling for stiff penalties against industries letting out effluents into the drains, they also mooted barricading and fencing of storm water drains for the safety of residents.
The committee will present their report to the standing committee within a week’s time, a press note said.
