Indian School of Business (ISB) Chairman Adi Godrej on Saturday said the government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) should have intervened much earlier to halt the rupee depreciation.
“I am very disappointed and the government should have defended the rupee. The RBI should have announced measures and policies to halt the rupee depreciation without waiting for long,” said Mr. Godrej while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of ISB's tenth year valedictory celebrations.
On the present business situation in the country, Mr. Godrej said apart from economic crisis, the anti-corruption agitation and the delay in government decisions were few challenges.
Book release
About ISB, he said the school had made significant progress in the first ten years of its existence.
He later released the ISB's tenth commemorative book ‘An idea whose time has come', which was penned by ISB Founder Dean Pramath Raj Sinha.
Commemorating the occasion, the ISB alumni members would issue loyalty Upper Deck Cards to the staff and alumni members.
Mileage points
Similar to those issued by commercial establishments, these cards would help members gain mileage points on every retail purchase, besides flight bookings etc, said Prashant Ivaturi, president, Graduate Student Board.
“There are about 3,000 alumni members and the objective behind issuing these cards is to stay united.
The entire project is worth about Rs.10 lakh and already deals are underway with different commercial establishments. Efforts are on to make these cards operational in a couple of months,” said Mr. Ivaturi.ISB Dean Ajit Rangnekar said the new campus at Mohali would be inaugurated in April 2012 and requested the alumni members to lend their hand in the school's development.
Chaurasia enthrals
The celebrations concluded with a flute concert by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia which left the audience spell bound.
Addressing the audience, Pandit Chaurasia said he had performed during the ISB foundation ceremony in 2001 and was looking forward to perform at the school's next decade valedictory celebrations.
