Students must hone their creative skills and stay rooted to their culture and traditions as well, said District Collector A. Devasena.

At the inaugural of District Science Fair here on Wednesday, she said humans made great progress technologically but sadly the human angle was missing. One should strive to be affectionate towards all while striving to emulate the best. The science fair offered a unique platform to the students to showcase their talent.

She exhorted the students to excel in studies and bring laurels to the district and wished the participants best of luck in their endeavours.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson G. Padma urged the teachers to strive to inculcate scientific temper among the school students and shape them as useful citizens. She wanted the children to follow the teaching of Abdul Kalam and dream big in life and work towards achieving it. “The Government had set up 520 residential schools for various communities with a view to offering quality education to the less privileged. You should all utilise opportunities and shape your lives,” she said. Member of Legislative Assembly Pula Ravinder, MLA T. Rajaiah, Z.P. chairperson Premalatha Reddy and others were present.

Protect environment

In Warangal Urban district, the Collector K. Amrapali wanted the students to be conscious of environment and prevent pollution by all means. She said that the land and trees were invaluable assets to human life and they should be protected always. Everybody should contribute their share to ensure safe environment.

“It is necessary to be aware of bio-diversity and inculcate sense of responsibility from childhood,” she said.

Participating as chief guest at the Lashkar Bazar High School, Mayor N. Narender said the parents should encourage their children to participate in science exhibitions where they get to showcase their talent. Local MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar said more than 500 exhibits were on display at the district science fair that shows the keen interest among the children. He wished the participants all the best.
