State inks MoU with Tokyo on garbage handling

Clean Authority of Tokyo to help State in solid waste management and incineration

The Government has initiated the process for establishing an exclusive authority for managing municipal solid wastes across the State.

The high-level delegation led by Industries and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao entered into a memorandum of understanding with Clean Authority of Tokyo to work together in the field of municipal solid waste incineration facilities on the third day of their visit to Japan. Accordingly, the two sides would exchange information/knowledge in municipal solid waste incineration facilities and make effort to realise human resource exchanges for the technical cooperation in future.

Industries Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Clean Authority of Tokyo Vice-President Yoshimi Sato signed the MoU in the presence of Mr. Rama Rao and Indian Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy on Friday.

The government had also signed a letter of intent with ISE Foods Inc. Accordingly, the ISE Foods Inc would set up a pilot project for egg production using advanced technologies.

As part of the understanding, the firm would set up a solar park to support the egg production facility including the development of cold storage devices. The company would focus on development of local human capacity building on advanced technologies of poultry by designing and conducting training and capacity building programmes. ISE Foods chairman Hikonobu Ise was the signatory to the letter on behalf of the company while Mr. Jayesh Ranjan represented the State.

The delegation led by Mr. Rama Rao met the representatives of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The Minister addressed the participants of “Telangana State: India Investment Promotion Seminar” at JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo wherein he explained about the investment oppportunities in the State highlighting the government’s industrial policies like TS-iPASS.

Mr. Rama Rao held discussions with the representatives of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation later in the day besides meeting industrial heads and front leaders of Japan-based multinational companies.
