State Formation Day to be a mega event

Monuments and important buildings to be illuminated

The State government is gearing up for a grand celebration of Telangana Formation Day at the Parade Grounds here on June 2.

Chief Secretary S. P. Singh held a coordination meeting with senior officials of various departments on Saturday and directed them to make all the arrangements for the event.

Giving the schedule of the Chief Minister on the day, Mr. Singh said Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao would first offer tributes to the martyrs at the Gun Park and then hoist the national tricolour at the Parade Grounds.

He would then present awards to 50 persons who showed their talent and merit in various fields.

As part of the celebrations, sweets and fruits would be distributed among inmates of old-age homes, orphanages, and visually impaired students.

As part of ‘Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat’, the Telangana government entered into an MoU with the Haryana government and a contingent from Harayana would take part in the State Formation Day celebrations.

The Information and Public Relations department would make arrangements for the live telecast of State Formation Day celebrations and he asked them to set up LED screens and other facilities.

Monuments and important buildings like Raj Bhavan, Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, Charminar and main areas of the city should be illuminated to mark the State Formation Day, he said.

Emphasis should be on sanitation, and cleanliness in the Parade Grounds and mobile toilets should also be provided, Mr. Singh said.

Traffic regulation, police bandobust , continuous power supply , drinking water supply, stationing of fire engines, ambulances and medical teams also figured in the meeting.

Cultural programmes reflecting the culture of Telangana should be organised in the evening of June 2 at People’s Plaza, Ravindra Bharathi and a Food Festival with Telangana delicacies and specialities should be other attractions, Mr.Singh said.

Apart from senior officials of various departments, city Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy, and GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy attended.
