State Bank of India donates bus to home for the destitute

450 inmates can travel in it for regular medical check-up

State Bank of India (SBI) on Monday donated a bus, 250 blankets and 250 sleeping mats, together valued at nearly ₹15 lakh, to Amma Nanna Anadha Ashramam in the city.

The Ashramam, established in 2010 with one inmate, presently has over 450 inmates. Food, clothes and shelter is provided to all the destitutes, orphans and mentally challenged persons free-of-cost.

The bus would supplement the efforts of Ashramam in taking the inmates to hospitals for medical check-up at regular intervals, a release from the SBI said.

Bank Managing Director (Retail and Digital Banking) P.K. Gupta, who led the team of official at the programme to hand over the bus and other items, said as a corporate caring citizen, the SBI was committed to the welfare of society. The bank would remain in the forefront for inclusive development, he said.

Chief General Manager (Hyderabad Circle) Hardayal Prasad said the Circle had donated ₹3.40 crore in 2016-17 under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Chief General Manager J. Swaminathan said the SBI was concentrating on sanitation, health, education and environment, while undertaking the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Mr. Gupta also inaugurated four wealth management hubs in Hyderabad, the release said.
