The first time you hear the word ‘Motovation’, you do a double-take, thinking if the person who wrote it failed to do a spell check. But a second later, when you see ‘Motovation Track Days’, you wonder what it could be all about.

Motovation Track Days (MTD) is a start-up founded by a motley crew of people from diverse backgrounds. But what binds them together is their love for safe riding on two-wheelers.

Structured environment

Co-founders Anoop Pamu, Piyush, Mihir and Nikhil among others claim MTD is India’s first Motorcycle Safety Riding School that helps people find their limits and those of their speed machines in a structured, controlled and safe environment.

The start-up team is all set to undertake a 1,500-km to 2,000-km-long expedition to New Delhi, explore Jammu and Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh and return.

In all, 19 bikers will be on the trip, including those from MTD. The bikes are already on their way, safely ensconced in a truck to New Delhi, while the bikers themselves will fly to the national capital.

After a day’s orientation on the dos and don’ts, they will hit the road to Srinagar, a 1,000 km away.

The expedition will last between May 27 and June 10 and is priced at Rs. 31,500 per rider , exclusive of the cost of transportation and air fare. MTD will provide the riders food and accommodation, and mechanical and logistics support in the form of a back-up vehicle.

Documenting the trip

“We will document the trip extensively with digital single lens reflex cameras, GoPros and a GyroCam,” says Piyush, who runs Mighty Mech and will, together with Anoop, provide mechanical support to the powerful riding machines. Piyush knows his way around Bullets, while Anoop can fix bikes like Pulsar, KTM and Honda CBR 650.

The sheer thrill of long-distance riding apart, the bikers aim to use the opportunity to spread awareness and demonstrate safe driving practices among Indian youth. MTD has organised 20 track days in about 15 months of its existence and trained enthusiasts at the 1.2 km-long Chicane track owned by Meco Motor Sports outside Hyderabad. A track day costs about Rs. 2,000 for participants.
