Regardless of whether they are contesting or campaigning for their favourite political parties, celebrities, read film stars, are the most-searched on Google. For several elections now, stars have been playing a key role, either campaigning for friends or contesting themselves.

And topping the charts is ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan, who made waves when he launched his Jana Sena Party, with his elder brother, megastar and Union Minister K. Chiranjeevi at No. 6. Mr. Pawan Kalyan continued to amaze people by not fielding candidates but instead, proclaiming his support and even campaigning for the National Democratic Alliance.

Ramya trails

He is followed closely by actress Ramya, a sitting MP and now in the fray to retain the Mandya Lok Sabha seat in adjoining Karnataka. Third in the list is Kumar Vishwas of Aam Aadmi Party who is contesting from Amethi, followed by actress Nagma making her political debut from Meerut on a Congress ticket. Ms. Nagma has been searched at double the number, compared to Bharatiya Janata Party MP Hema Malini who is in the fray from Mathura.

Bollywood’s Rakhi Sawant has gained prominence in cyber-space, bagging a significant response online, with the launch of her Rashtriya Aam Party in Mumbai.
