School principal wants parents to take responsibility if anything untoward happens to the child on the school premises
St. Paul’s High School wants the parents of the diabetic student, Tanishq Jaiswal, to give a written undertaking owning responsibility if anything untoward happened to the child on the school premises. But the parents refuse to oblige.
“Why should we give an undertaking? Our son is taking insulin injection for the last one year without any problem,” said Neeraj Jaiswal and Vaishali Jaiswal.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, school Principal, Bro. Sudhakar Reddy, said doctors contacted by the school had suggested that the boy was too small to administer the insulin himself and it could turn risky if the insulin dosage was taken less or more.
Therefore, from the health point of view the parents were told to admit the boy in a school where the number of students in a class was less so that a ‘closer check’ on his health could be done. But if the parents wanted their child to continue in St. Paul’s they were asked to give an undertaking owning responsibility if anything went wrong, Bro. Reddy said.
The parents maintained that Dr. Bipin K Sethi, who is treating Tanishq, was satisfied that the boy could take the injection himself.
