The public outcry against the shabby treatment meted out to Tanishq Jaiswal, the student suffering from diabetes, by the St. Paul’s High School, has forced the management to soften its stand.
The principal, Bro. Sudhakar Reddy, is no longer insisting on issuing TC to the boy but wants the parents to apologise for the ‘controversy’. The parents are asked to tender a written apology for taking the issue to media and bringing disrepute to the school, it is said.
The boy’s parents, Neeraj Jaiswal and Vaishali Jaiswal, met the Principal on Monday along with Achyuta Rao, president, A.P Balala Hakkula Sangham (APBHS). The principal faulted the parents for the controversy and spoke of the ‘risk’ involved in the child taking insulin shots himself.
SHRC petitioned
Meanwhile, the APBHS petitioned the A.P. State Human Rights Commission seeking directions to the Hyderabad Collector and District Education Officer to initiate action against the school principal for violating the Right to Education Act and acting against juvenile justice.
Another harassment
In a statement, Mr. Rao said another incident of harassment of a fifth class student, Master Pranav, also of the same school had come to light.
The boy was not being allowed to attend classes on the ground that he is ‘arrogant’ and the principal had threatened the parents to issue a Transfer Certificate.
