St. Mary’s Basilica celebrates 175 years

One of the most beautiful churches in the twin cities, the St. Mary’s Basilica, will celebrate its 175{+t}{+h}year of inception on May 1 with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration by Rev. Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India. He is here on invitation of Rev. Thumma Bala, Archibishop of Hyderabad, to participate in the Quartoseptsentennial anniversary (175{+t}{+h}year) of what was formerly the Cathedral of St. Mary’s. Built in 1840 by Fr. Daniel Murphy, it was later the Principal Church of the former Vicariate of Hyderabad. All the 12 Bishops from Telangana and AP, will attend the celebration.
