Medical services at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) were affected to some extent on Monday after class IV employees of the hospital boycotting work. Close to 1,200 house keeping employees of the hospital, who have been on a 48-day protest demanding hike in salaries, burned effigies of the hospital management in front of the hospital on Monday evening.
The employees are demanding permanent jobs to senior house keeping employees and salary hike to Rs. 10,000 from the existing Rs. 6, 700 per month for house keeping staff. A huge rally was taken out from the NIMS Millennium Block to the entrance where the effigies of the hospital management were burnt.
