In what the General Manager, South Central Railway, Ravindra inaugurated a renovated Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and exclusive air-conditioned Waiting Hall for former employees at the Out-Patient Block of the Central Hospital in Lallaguda here on Tuesday.
He said that the SICU was given a face-lift at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh. It now has 36 beds to serve the needs of post-operative patients, acute cases and burn cases pertaining to former employees.
Centrally air-conditioned, it has an audio video calling system to restrict entry of visitors into the sterile zone. Among others, it has modern equipment including a mobile ventilator, positive pressure air purifier system and the like.
The Waiting Hall boasts of comfortable seating arrangements for 50 patients coming to the hospital and has a television and washroom. Mr. Gupta also threw open a lift for convenience of patients inside the complex.
Other senior officials present included Additional GM A.K. Gupta, Principal Chief Engineer S.N. Singh, Chief Medical Director T.S.R. Murthy and Divisional Manager (Hyderabad) Aruna Singh, apart from representatives of the trade unions, associations and pensioners organisations.
Mr. Gupta wanted doctors and medical staff to provide the best of medical treatment and identify areas that needed improvements too.
A medical camp was also organized for retired railway employees to screen them for hypertension, diabetes and cardiac problems.
Special tests like bone densitometry was done for all the retired employees by an orthopaedician and physician.
