Police on Tuesday nabbed four persons, including three employees of South Central Railway (SCR), for allegedly duping over 112 unemployed youth, promising them jobs in the railways. The gang had collected Rs.1.27 crore from the job aspirants and cheated them.
The accused have been identified Sesham Krishna, a Group D employee, K. Maruti Mahesh, Chief Office Superintendent and T. Rajendra Kumar, an Office Superintendent in SCR, and Kalyan Kumar Gupta, a businessman.
They lured unemployed youth with jobs of Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), loco pilot, signal operator, booking clerk, goods guard and other jobs in the railways.
Prime accused
Police said the prime accused, Krishna, made aspirants write examinations after issuing them fake hall-tickets at Rail Nilayam during Sundays and made them believe that they got jobs and collected the amount from them.
Once the aspirants realised they were duped and started putting pressure on him to either return the money or get them the promised jobs, Krishna collected their bank account details and began to deposit ‘salaries’ ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 in their accounts.
Believing that they really got jobs in the railways, a few youngsters had even got married.
But after a few weeks, their respective in-laws found that they were not employed with railways leading to disputes in the families.
Based on a complaint, sleuths of the Central Crime Station (CCS) booked a case against Krishna and his associates and arrested them.
