South Africa keen on strengthening economic ties

For South Africa, which is keen to further economic ties with India, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are two crucial States that can help enhance the cooperation.

This was one of the messages visiting Deputy Minister (Trade and Industry) of South Africa, Mzwandile Masina, and accompanying officials sought to highlight on Monday.

Discussions with AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao formed part of the South African Minister schedule, who led a delegation of industrialists to Hyderabad. While showcasing of the capabilities in agro processing, mining, food and beverages, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and capital equipment remain the focus, South Africa is also keen on exploring opportunities arising out of the Make in India programme. Mr. Masina and officials, including Consul General of South Africa in Mumbai, Pule I.Malefane, addressing presspersons, said defence and ocean economy (comprising a gamut from fishing, aquaculture, ship building to sea port development) are key areas of cooperation. In the city, the Deputy Minister participated in the sixth international trade and investment initiative of South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry.

South Africa, “a strategic entry point for investors looking at Africa,” they said was looking at a whole range of opportunities, including the plans of Andhra Pradesh to develop a capital. South Africa, the officials said, had from December last year began issuing long term (10 year), multiple entry visas to company heads and senior executives.
