Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change will soon release funds meant for afforestation accumulated in banks over the last 10 years, and disburse them among the States.

An amount of Rs. 35 crore remained unspent from the Congress regime, and the same will be released to the State governments as part of the Green India programme, Minister Prakash Javadekar said, after returning from the ‘Haritha Haram’ programme in Nizamabad.

Mr. Javadekar advised the sparring States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to resolve their differences and work for the nation’s benefit.

“Boundaries between the States are only political and not divisive. People of both States do not show any animosity towards each other. BJP has long been saying both States will coexist peacefully and prosper rapidly,” Mr.Javadekar noted, while speaking at Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s birth anniversary celebrations at BJP office here on Monday. Mr. Mukherjee strove against walls being erected between the country’s territories, and sacrificed his life for the same, Mr.Javadekar said, and urged the states to follow his example.

“Here, some try to create walls between people through various means. Reading about it, sometimes I feel very sad. This is one region which was divided for convenience. Such fights should not happen. People should behave responsibly,” Mr.Javadekar said, referring to the frequent squabbles between both states over various issues.
