In the wake of water contamination resulting in hospitalisation of over 150 residents of Indranagar Colony at Bachupally village, authorities have decided to install a reverse osmosis treatment plant near the Bachupally Community Hall.
The reverse osmosis treatment plant would filter the drinking water drawn from the borewells. The filtered water would be made available for residents at a cost of Rs. 4 per 20 litres can. The installation of the plant is estimated to cost around Rs. 11 lakh and it should be ready in a month, said Bachupally Mandal Parishad president Hanumanth Reddy.
Fresh cases
Meanwhile, 10 new cases of water contamination were reported from Indranagar Colony on Wednesday. Of the 10 patients, two children and a 65-year-old lady were critical and admitted in a private hospital.
Their situation is stable and rest of the patients were already discharged, said Qutbullapur Medical Officer Dr. Lakshmi.
Patients, who were hospitalised on Monday and Tuesday, were responding well to the treatment.
Majority of them were discharged except for two patients undergoing treatment at the Bachupally Community Hall and nearly 15 at a private hospital in Madinaguda, she informed.
