A software professional, Nazia Sultana (28) was killed and another person sustained injuries in a road accident at Himayatsagar on Outer Ring Road in the early hours of Tuesday. The condition of the cab driver was stated to critical.
The woman was going in a private cab to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to take a flight for Bengaluru. The woman started in the taxi from her residence in Gachibowli at around 4 a.m. As they reached Himayatsagar the taxi rammed into a heavy vehicle from behind, the police said.
Due to the impact of the collision, the woman sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. The heavy vehicle driver fled without stopping," Rajendranagar Sub-Inspector G. Sharath Kumar said.
The police registered a case and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary.
