Social welfare students do well in IIT-JEE exam

Making history, 165 social and 112 tribal welfare residential students of TS qualified in the JEE Mains exam, 2017. The social and tribal societies run highly successful IIT colleges to provide intensive coaching to the meritorious students from the marginalised sections.

M. Ganesh, a student of Tribal welfare IIT, Rajendranagar, bagged 258 all-India rank in the Scheduled Tribe category with 129 marks. Karthik Matla from IIT Gowlidoddi secured 1124 all-India rank in the SC category with 128 marks. Among the best performing institutes are - IIT Gowlidoddi (56 students), IIT Rajendra Nagar (46 students) COE Karimnagar (30), OE Warangal (28) and SOE Khammam (22). TSWREIS and TTWREIS students’ outstanding achievement in the JEE Main exams, 2017,proved that even the sons and daughters of daily wage earners, agricultural labourers, tenant farmers and private clerks can crack the country’s toughest exam. All that it takes is perseverance in the face of abject poverty and adversity, noted Secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar . He congratulated the students and the staff for their hard work and commitment.
