Skeletal IAS, IPS officers in initial days: KCR

May 23, 2014 12:09 am | Updated 12:09 am IST - HYDERABAD:

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao expects the new State governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to work with bare minimum IAS and IPS officers in the initial days.

Notification may be delayed

“There will be 10 to 15 officers of each stream in both governments for about 15 days as notification of guidelines for distribution of all-India officers is expected to be delayed,” Mr. Rao told a meeting of employees here on Thursday.

He said the delay would be on account of the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister being extended up to May 26. Even if Mr. Modi approves the proposals sent by the State government on that day, they will not be notified by June 2. Mr. Modi’s predecessor Manmohan Singh refused to approve the proposals after the UPA government lost the mandate in elections.

The State government had no say in the distribution of the officers, he said, recalling his conversation with Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty before coming to the meeting.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary and senior officials from various departments called on Mr. Rao and briefed him about the State bifurcation process.

Mr. Mohanty and the team of officials would make a detailed power-point presentation to Mr. Rao on the reorganisation process and methodology adopted for distribution of assets, liabilities, employees and contracts between the two successor States on Friday.
