Sixth Zone engineers allege discrimination

October 03, 2017 01:12 am | Updated 01:13 am IST - Hyderabad

The Irrigation Department engineers of Sixth Zone held a day long silent protest at their office in Erra Manzil against the orders of the Engineer-in-Chief (Administration) alleging that he had prepared seniority list ignoring all the existing norms and denying them justice.

The protesting engineers said that the motive of the list seems to benefit the Zone-V engineers and this was against the Supreme Court orders on the common seniority list to be prepared from all the six zones up to June 2, 2014. They said the injustice meted out to them reflected in the fact that there are three Engineers-in-Chiefs and all are from Zone-V while among the 23 Chief Engineers all are from Zone-V and not a single one is from Sixth Zone.

Similarly, among the 45 Superintending Engineers 28 are from Zone-V and only three are from Sixth Zone. All these figures reveal that the Spirit of 6 point formula and Presidential Orders to provide equitable opportunities in employment and careers were violated.
