Immigration authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, on Tuesday detained six persons when they tried to fly to Malaysia with visiting visas allegedly concealing the fact that they were going there to work.
Five of the detained persons were unemployed men from Punjab while the sixth was a commission agent from Visakhapatnam, Srirangam Venkata Balasubrahmanyam Sai Sunder. They were handed over to the police.
Genuine papers
“The passports and visas of the six persons are genuine. But the authorities grew suspicious when they stumbled upon appointment letters carried by five of them,” Shamshabad ACP, Karunakar, said after interrogating them.
All of them had visiting visas. When grilled about the appointment letters, the five persons revealed that they were going to work there. Sunder, who earlier visited Malaysia, was accompanying them to find jobs in Malaysia.
Sunder later admitted to police that he could not find a job during his earlier visits to Malaysia and lost huge sums which he paid to agents.
He came in contact with some agents in Delhi, who referred the five men from Punjab to him, asking him to act as carrier agent.
