Six die in pharma company explosion in Hyderabad

Six workers died while another sustained injuries after an explosion inside Hasitha Pharmaceutical factory on city outskirts on Monday morning. The injured was admitted to a private hospital.

Bodies of all the six workers got charred and mutilated beyond recognition. "We understand a reactor in the factory exploded at around 6.15 a.m. The six workers working near the reactor died on the spot," Ibrahimpatnam ACP Narayana told The Hindu.

There were 11 workers in the factory when the blast took place. While eight came to work on night shift, the remaining reported to duty in the morning. Four of the victims were from Chattisgarh and two from Andhra Pradesh.

Families of the victims and residents of the surrounding localities gathered in large numbers outside the factory. Family members, relatives and friends of the victims are staging demonstration outside the factory demanding compensation to the kith and kin of the workers.
