Six men were arrested in connection with the murder of Vallabhu Srinivas Rao, an education consultant. Srinivasa Rao was also an active member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Sanathnagar division of the city.

Rao was murdered at 11.30 p.m. on November 15 in a gruesome manner near Sanathnagar bus stop by a group of seven persons due to the previous animosity.

Police identified the accused as Mirza Haroon Baig (38), a resident of Yusufguda, Syed Yaseen Ali (34), a resident of Erragadda, Mohammed Ibrahim (22), Mohammed Khaleel (24), Tajuddin (24) residents of Sanathnagar and Sunil Singh Jadhav (26), a resident of Balkampet. While another person Mohammed Sajid (26), a resident of Yousufguda is absconding.

According to the police, last month the deceased picked-up an altercation with accused Ibrahim and Ifran and assaulted Rao. Rao booked a petty case against the duo with Sanathnagar Police.

“Baig, who happened to be Ibrahim’s partner requested Rao to settle the case through compromise, but he did not heed his request and behaved adamantly towards them,” the police said.

Apparently upset by this, Ibrahim and Baig hatched a conspiracy to kill him, the Sanathnagar police said. On November 15, the accused under the influence of alcohol met Rao with their friends and entered into a heated argument with him.

They took him to a under-construction building and hit the deceased with a wooden threshold on his head. As Rao fell on a granite stone and sustained a severe head injury, death was instant for him, police said.

“After analysing the video footages of surveillance cameras and other technical evidence we have nabbed the accused,” the police said, adding that all the arrested accused are under judicial remand.
