The State government has decided to implement single licensing policy in the agriculture markets spread across Telangana.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has signed the file pertaining to single licensing policy on Tuesday amid concerns expressed over the present practice, where traders who are licensed in a particular market cannot purchase/sell goods in another market. This is adversely affecting competition and thereby, denying minimum support price to farmers for their produce.
Marketing Minister T. Harish Rao told the Chief Minister that if traders were allowed to have access to all markets, the competition would be more and farmers would get remunerative price for their produce. The Chief Minister responded positively to the suggestion and instructed the officials concerned to put in place single licensing policy system.
The new policy would enable licensed traders to do business in any market across the State. This would also ensure that traders are not forced to obtain multiple licences and it would also be beneficial to online marketing, according to an official press release.
