The police on Sunday arrested six persons, including a woman for their alleged involvement in the recent shootout that took place at Falaknuma in old city. A businessman, Mohammed Mansoor, sustained bullet injuries in the incident.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammed Afroz (24) of Gazibanda, Mohammed Aleem (26) of Vattepally, Habeeb Ismail Sankari (22) of Kamatipura, Abeda Begum (55) of Chandulal Baradari, Mohammed Naseeruddin (25) of Misrigunj and Mohammed Akbar (25) of Kisbanbagh.
Two country-made firearms, five live cartridges of eight mm, a dagger, two motorcycles and six mobile phones were recovered from them, City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told reporters here on Sunday.
Twenty-five-year-old Mansoor of Shahalibanda along with his friend Shaik Mohammed were passing by Bibi-ka-Chashma on a motorcycle on Thursday when the accused came from behind and shot at him from close range resulting in grievous head injuries. Shaik Mohammed rushed him to NIMS where his condition is critical.
The accused attacked Mansoor in connection with a land dispute at Qazipura. The firearms were procured from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, according to police.
