Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy took exception to the allegations levelled by Municipal Administration Minister K.T.Rama Rao that he had stalled 2 BHK housing scheme in the Sanathnagar constituency.
In a letter to the Minister, Mr. Shashidhar Reddy dismissed outright Mr. Rama Rao’s allegations on Thursday about stalling the housing scheme in Ambedkar Nagar slum. In fact it was Mr. Rama Rao who was in league with some private land owners whose land was clubbed with the slum land and the private parties were made to file cases to stall the scheme in the first place, Mr. Reddy alleged.
It was conspiracy hatched by Mr. Rama Rao and his colleague T. Srinivas Yadav to usurp the land, Mr. Shashidhar Reddy alleged in a press statement.
Court order
Mr.Shashidhar Reddy further said that after tricking the slum dwellers into believing that the 2BHK houses would be constructed in Ambedkar Nagar, both the ministers instigated private land owner to file a writ petition in the High Court. The private land owner got an order restraining his dispossession in violation of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act and some more private parties also followed suit. Explaining the antecedents, Mr. Reddy said the Ambedkar Nagar slum was notified under the Slum Improvement Act 1956 in 1990 when Sanathnagar constituency was represented by late Marri Channa Reddy. Pattas were issued when Mr. Shashidhar Reddy was a minister in 1993-94. “I had also resisted the move to shift the slum dwellers during the TDP government period between 1994-2004,” Mr. Reddy recalled.
