Police on Monday arrested Dayanand, the brother of Secunderabad Cantonment MLA P. Shankar Rao, for an alleged land grab attempt at Gemininagar under Musheerabad police limits.
Police said Dayanand had taken 166 sq. yards of land owned by one Janardhan Reddy on rent for operating a printing press. He, however, did not set up any office and kept the land in his possession. A few months ago, Mr. Reddy informed Dayanand that he was planning to sell the land to meet his daughter’s marriage expenses.
Dayanand assured Mr. Reddy that he would buy the land and sought time to pay the amount.
He, however, failed to do so, and also tried to grab the land last week, police said. Based on Mr. Reddy’s complaint, the police booked him under relevant Sections of the IPC and arrested him.
