High drama at OGH as the MLA complains of uneasiness and insists on getting admitted

The city police on Monday arrested former Minister P. Shankar Rao in connection with a dowry harassment case filed against him by his daughter-in-law P. Vamsi Priya.

The officials of the Central Crime Station (CCS) women police station arrested the Secunderabad Cantonment legislator from his house in Musheerabad. His daughter Sushmita, who protested the arrest, was detained by the police and shifted to Musheerabad police station.

Police booked a case against the legislator based on a complaint given by Vamsi Priya alleging that he had threatened the family demanding withdrawal of the complaint.

Soon after his arrest, the legislator was taken to Osmania General Hospital for a medical check up.

High drama prevailed at the hospital when he complained of uneasiness and insisted on getting admitted.

Vamsi Priya had recently approached the High Court with a writ petition seeking the arrest of her husband Shashank and father-in-law Shankar Rao, mother-in-law Vishwa Shanti and sister-in-law Sushmita. Later, the court in June issued notices to DGP V. Dinesh Reddy, Shankar Rao and his family members along with the station house officer of the women's police station at the CCS directing them to respond to the petition.
