Seven arrested on murder charge

They killed 22-year-old B. Ravi of Lalaguda for allegedly marrying the sister-in-law of one of them

The mystery behind the missing of a lorry driver a week ago was resolved by the city police on Sunday with the arrest of seven persons, who allegedly kidnapped and murdered him.

The prime accused, D. Srikanth and his friends B. Govind, B. Mahesh, R. Naresh, G. Shankar, K. Sai Kumar and Francis Benedict killed 22-year-old B. Ravi of Lalaguda for allegedly marrying Srikanth's sister-in-law.

The accused lured Ravi to an isolated place at BJR Nagar in Malkajgiri on April 31 and beat him up severely after which he became unconscious. They later offered liquor to Ravi and took him to Uppada beach in Kakinada where they had thrown him into the sea and killed him.

Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed the seven killers.

Rag-picker murdered

In another case, a 35-year-old rag-picker was found murdered in a secluded area at Begumpet airport compound wall in Annanagar on Sunday.

Assailants killed the victim by smashing his head with a boulder. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained, police said.
