A 70-year-old man, who went missing from his native Vallapuram village in Mudigonda mandal around 17 years ago in a mentally disturbed condition, was reunited with his family members, thanks to the intervention of the Chennai police. Adamala Lingaiah of Vallapuram had disappeared from home due to apparent mental health issues in his early 50s.

According to sources, Lingaiah was found wandering on the streets of Chennai by the local police a couple of months ago. He was admitted to a State-run mental health institute. After recovering recently, he told the police about his native place . The Chennai police sought the cooperation of Khammam police in reuniting Lingaiah with his family.

Khammam Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal promptly responded and sent a police team to Chennai on Thursday.

The team had arrived with Lingaiah here on Saturday.

Mr Tafseer Iqbal handed over Lingaiah to his family members and presented new clothes to him. Shilva Raju, the nephew of Lingaiah, thanked the police for their kind gesture.
