February 14, 2014 12:17 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:38 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A 70-year-old person, who was on guard duty at the house of a contractor, was found murdered at Suryanagar in Alwal on Thursday. The ransacked house of the contractor, Kishtaiah, who went to take part in the ongoing Sammakka-Sarakka jatara at Madaram in Warangal district with his family, indicated that burglars strangled the old man, Butchaiah, to death when he resisted them. The burglars forcibly opened one door and broke the almirah inside the two-room house. Clothes and other articles were strewn on the floor. “We are not yet sure about the property stolen as the contractor is yet to return,” Alwal Inspector S.V. Hari Krishna said. Butchaiah of Bolarum used to sleep on a cot outside the contractor’s house in the night. Around 7 a.m. on Thursday, neighbours realised that he was dead.
