SenecaGlobal to double headcount in Hyderabad

Plans to invest $5 million on global expansion

March 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Hyderabad:

IT services firm SenecaGlobal plans to more than double its headcount in Hyderabad in two years.

Headquartered in Hyderabad and with a subsidiary in the US, the firm on Wednesday made this announcement while unveiling a three-year, $5 million global expansion plan.

“Bulk of the investment goes into India operations,” managing director Rao Tummalapalli said, adding the company was committed to expanding in Hyderabad. However, “beyond a size, for [reasons of] disaster recovery and talent acquisition,” there may be a need to look elsewhere in the country.

At present, it is getting ready to move the Hyderabad development centre to a larger facility. A statement issued at the press meet he addressed with president and CEO Edward V. Szofer said the new, 40,000 sq ft facility would support the first phase of SenecaGlobal’s expansion in Hyderabad. The company plans to expand beyond this and increase the headcount to over 2,000 by 2020.

Mr. Tummalapalli said the headcount in Hyderabad would be raised from the present 220 to 500 in two years. Beyond 2016, the company, he replied to another query, would consider acquiring firms for growth.

Stating that the company had added another facility in the US recently, Mr. Szofer said enterprise mobility, the latest service offering, was expected to accelerate the growth of operations in the coming years.
