Security has been tightened at public places in the city on Sunday following a terror alert issued by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to different cities in the country.

The Deputy Commissioners of Police in all the five zones instructed the inspectors to conduct vehicle checking at public places with a special focus on malls, theatres and markets. Directions were also issued to detain persons moving suspiciously at crowded places.

Police pickets were posted at the strategic locations to prevent any untoward incidents in the wake of festival season.

“We will conduct decoy operations at malls and theatres to examine the security apparatus. If anyone found to be negligent, we will take necessary action against the managements,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) V. Satyanarayana warned.
