Secunderabad among top 5 clean stations

Nellore in South Central Railway has been ranked a high of 28{+t}{+h}

Secunderabad railway station is among the top 5 in terms of cleanliness, according to an Indian Railways survey of 407 stations, the results of which were declared recently.

This ranking is among the stations that have over 50,000 footfalls per day.

The survey was conducted by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation through TNS India in 407 stations across the country using passenger feedback.

Stakeholders’ input

Inputs from railway porters, vendors and railway employees too went into the survey findings.

But, the overall ranking (not considering the footfalls) picture is gloomy for the city, with Kachiguda ranked 66th, Secunderabad 96th and Hyderabad 210th.

Among the 75 A1 stations with high footfalls, Kachiguda has been ranked 15th, Secunderabad 23rd and Hyderabad 46th.

Beas, Gandhidham, Vasco-da-Gama are the cleanest railway stations in the country. Nellore in South Central Railway has been ranked a high 28{+t}{+h}in terms of cleanliness in the survey where 400 passengers were interviewed in each of the 407 stations on various aspects like toilets and cleanliness of concourses.

Among railway zones, the SCR brings up the rear with 53 per cent stations having cleanliness level of 3 and only 19 per cent with top two levels.

At the bottom

Raichur, which is in the SCR zone, is ranked 404th (fourth from bottom) in the cleanliness ranking.

Guntakal is among the bottom 10 in divisional scores across the country.

One of the silver linings for the SCR is Nanded, which is among the top 15 divisions with 60 per cent stations having cleanliness of 1 & 2 levels.
