Murals and sculptures seem to be the flavour of the season in the city.
Towards the beautification of the city for the convention on biodiversity (CoP-11) scheduled to be held from October 1, initiatives have already been taken up to set up murals on different road stretches.
Now, the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), which is executing the Outer Ring Road (ORR) along the city outskirts, has decided to line up key points of the facility with sculptures.
Innovative concepts
Some of the points selected for the purpose include the Gachibowli Rotary, central median at starting point of ORR Phase-1 apart from the interchange rotaries at Nanakramguda, Gandipet and Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA).
Even those driving to the International Airport at Shamshabad will be greeted with sculptures along the loop areas of the clover leaf interchange.
At the Gachibowli Rotary, the HGCL has decided to set up these sculptures with various innovative concepts that fit into the Hitech and Financial District area.
Informative
Artists and sculptors have been invited to come up with themes that could be aesthetically attractive, informative and educative on the topics of biodiversity and environment.
The works are to be done in steel, rock, cement, sand and fibre with an all-weather resistance coating for the exterior.
Murals on flyovers
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has started working towards a series of murals along its projects such as Necklace Road and flyovers in the city.
Similarly, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is coming up with murals for its projects, including the Begumpet flyover.
