Scrap PD Act: TS udyama vedika

The ‘Telangana Udyama Vedika’ under the leadership of Cheruku Sudhakar has demanded scrapping of the Preventive Detention (PD) Act. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr.Sudhakar charged the Telangana government with invoking PD Act even for minor offences. Citing examples, he said an MPTC in Nalgonda was charged under the Act, though he was involved only in minor offences. Also, 70 to 80 persons, mostly Adivasis, doing ‘Podu’ cultivation were arrested under the Act. Retired High Court judge B.Chandra Kumar, was also present.
