SCR seeks MPLADs, CSR funds for improving amenities

Panel expresses satisfaction over the improvements in cleanliness, augmentation of coaches

The South Central Railway (SCR) has sought funds from the MPLADs and other constituency funds along with funds accrued from the corporate social responsibility for improving passenger amenities. The funds can also be used for taking up saplings plantation in various areas.

This was highlighted at the 59th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee Meeting of Hyderabad Division, South Central Railway, here on Friday. Divisional Railway Manager Aruna Singh presided over the meeting attended by MLC Ramulu Naik and 21 other members, where she sought support to improve the passenger traffic and in counselling/educating rail users in maintaining cleanliness over the railway premises.

Introduction of new trains, provision of high level platforms, cover over platforms, increasing reservation quota, running of additional trains for Krishna Pushkarams, provision of parking sheds, allotment of stalls to reserved category candidates etc., were among the issues raised by the members.

Ms. Singh informed that amenities such as reverse osmosis plant, stainless dustbins, water vending machines, Free wi-fi facility at Kacheguda, additional seating arrangements at Mahbubnagar through MPLAD funds, additional cover over platform at Gadwal, Bodhan, Bolsa and Sivungaon etc. were taken up in the current financial year. Members expressed their satisfaction over the improvements especially in cleanliness, augmentation of coaches, stoppages etc. Mr. Naik requested for provision of RO plant at Bolarum Station and released Rs. 5 lakh for the same.

Additional coaches

The SCR will attach an additional AC Coach replacing a sleeper class coach soon on permanent basis in the following trains - Train No. 12710 / 12709 Secunderabad-Gudur- Secunderabad Simhapuri Express, Train No. 17058 / 17057 Secunderabad-Mumbai CST- Secunderabad Devagiri Express, Train No. 17005 / 17006 Hyderabad-Raxaul- Hyderabad Express, Train No. 17020 / 17019 Hyderabad-Ajmer- Hyderabad Weekly Express, Train No. 12720 / 12719 Hyderabad-Ajmer- Hyderabad Superfast Express.

Train No. 12715 / 12716 H.S. Nanded-Amritsar- H.S. Nanded Sachkhand Express, Train No. 17037 / 17038 Secunderabad-Bikaner-Secunderabad Bi-Weekly Express, Train No. 17018 / 17017 Secunderabad-Rajkot-Secunderabad Tri-Weekly Express, Train No. 17002 / 17001 Secunderabad-Sainagar Shirdi-Secunderabad Express, Train No. 17204 / 17203 Kakinada Port-Bhavnagar-Kakinada Port Weekly Express and Train No. 17205 / 17206 Kakinada Port-Sainagar Shirdi-Kakinada Port Tri-Weekly Express, a press release said.
