April 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

South Central Railway General Manager P.K. Srivastava has told officers that it was imperative for policy pronouncements made in the Railway Budget to be implemented at the ground-level and asked them to make use of the Rs. 133.47 crore budget and take up passenger amenities.

At a high-level works review meeting with principal heads of departments and Divisional Railway Managers here on Friday, he had a critical look at the status of work on ongoing passenger amenities at several railway stations across SCR. He wanted them to plan and execute works and ensure that the budget outlay was put to good use.

Passenger amenities he listed for speedy completion include provision of adequate number of dustbins and toilets of standard design at all stations for cleanliness, making good the shortfall of minimum essential amenities as per norms and completion of upgradation works sanctioned till 2013-14 at Adarsh Stations.

Mr. Srivastava said work on providing escalators and lifts at identified stations needs to be accelerated.
