SCR bags shields

Overall best performance goes jointly to Secunderabad, Guntakal Divisions

The South Central Railway (SCR) has made a mark at the national level among all zones of the Indian Railways by bagging All India Performance Efficiency Shields in five disciplines - the highest amongst all zones, said General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav and complimented the workforce here on Tuesday.

The staff’s duty mindedness and commitment helped overcome many challenges in making the division the best in the country, he said, while presenting 278 individual awards for meritorious work done during 2016-17. About 32 efficiency shields were also given away to various departments and 32 groups. GM efficiency shield for overall best performance went jointly to Secunderabad and Guntakal divisions and this was collected by DRMs - Ashesh Agarwal and Amitabh Ojha.

At the 62nd Railway week zonal level celebrations to mark the first train run on Indian soil, Mr. Yadav said employees were the core strength and highlighted the role of patrolling track personnel and loco-pilots. The Secunderabad railway station was among five stations chosen for development as ‘Green Stations’. SCR earned ₹12,100 cr. last year, carried 96.83 million tonnes generating ₹ 7,934.7 crore and it carried 375.8 million passengers generating ₹3,564.8 crore. About 149 unmanned level crossings were removed and 79 road over/road under bridges, limited height subways built, a press release said.
