A science fiction thriller, Different Epochs , written by late Vedant Karthik Kidambi, an IIIT-Hyderabad alumnus who died in a road accident in 2010, was released in the city on Sunday.

Different Epochs is set in a time period between 2060 and 2084 and divided into three different layers. The story revolves Divya, the protagonist, and is set in the Indian subcontinent.

What happens when human race makes contact with aliens and the war that ensues forms the central basis of the story.

The book was released by Navjyoti Singh, Head, Centre for Exact Humanities, IIIT.

“Vedant began writing when he was 17 and finished it when he was in his early twenties,” said Girija Uday Kumar, the author’s mother.

“In 2005, he attempted to get the book published, but later put it on back burner as he got busy with academics. A couple of years ago, we approached a Goa-based publisher who agreed to publish the book. We were able to retain the freshness of the story as written by a young author.”
