A businessman and the Gyan Vatika High School managing director were arrested by the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony police on Friday for allegedly trying to occupy a plot belonging to telecom operator Airtel in Hydernagar near Kukatpally.

Businessman Shivaji Yadav of Hydernagar is alleged to have got a fake unregistered sale deed, claiming that a certain Anupama sold him the plot, valued at Rs. 50 lakh.

“Eventually, he got this sale deed validated — making it an official document — by paying the prescribed fee at the Sub-Registrar office,” KPHB colony Inspector G. Baswa Reddy said. Yadav got the land registered in the name of Sunitha Singh, managing director of Gyan Vatika high school, in August last, Mr Reddy said. According to the police, Singh was aware that the document was illegally obtained and thus tried to occupy the plot having a market value of nearly Rs. 50 lakh.

Based on a complaint lodged by Airtel representatives, Kukatpally police launched a probe and arrested the accused.
