The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will supply one million tonnes of coal a year to the NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Limited (NTECL), a joint venture thermal power project of NTPC and TANGEDCO at Vallur in Tamil Nadu.

A memorandum to this effect was signed by Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL N. Sridhar and Chief Executive Officer M. Shivarama Krishna at Singareni Bhavan, head office of the SCCL, here on Friday.

The NTECL would utilise the coal for power generation at its 1,500 MW Vellore Thermal Power Plant. The NTECL is the second thermal power company in Tamil Nadu to get supply of coal from the SCCL. The Tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) had inked an MoU with SCCL last year also for one million tonnes of coal every year.

Mr. Sridhar expressed happiness over the agreement and said the SCCL had been gaining assured market for its coal production in and around Telangana.
