With summer fast approaching, a few elected board members of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) appealed the government to ensure that more water is supplied and Mahendra Hills pipeline is commissioned.

SCB requires 60 lakh gallons of water to ensure regular supply every alternate day. But the HMWSSB is supplying 40 lakh gallons through six pump houses in the Cantonment.

The present quantity was insufficient and the demand for more water has been increasing every year, SCB vice-president B. Narmada urged Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew after presenting a memorandum recently.

SCB in association with HMWSSB completed two pipeline projects – Mahendra Hills to Karkhana and Alwal to Bolarum in 2009 but water supply was yet to be commenced through these projects, she said. Mrs. Narmada urged the Chief Secretary to call for a meeting with SCB, HMWSSB and other senior officials to discuss issues pertaining to arrears, pending bills, tariff, etc. A few other elected board members were also present on the occasion, claimed a member.
