Save for sit-in protest, not much stir at UoH

An uneasy calm prevailed at University of Hyderabad on Thursday, as students and teachers went about their academic activities, while a few students managed to create a stir with a protest sit-in near the administrative block in the afternoon.

A section of students are unhappy with the Justice Ashok Roopanwal Committee report inquiring into the circumstances of the suicide of research scholar, Rohith Vemula, at the university in January 2016.

“The university is calm and all the classes are taking place as per schedule. On Wednesday night, a few students had a meeting to decide the course of action, but except for a short duration sit-in protest near the administration building, which is a regular affair for even small things, the study schedule has not been disturbed,” informed a Mass Communication student.

The university has put in place strict security norms where entry is barred for the media and outsiders.
