Far from the maddening crowds, one of the most famous sporting couples – tennis star Sania Mirza and former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik- celebrated their first-ever Id in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The two stars spent a quiet holiday at home after offering prayers at the place of worship on the premises of Muffakam Jah College of Engineering and Technology, near Panjagutta in the morning.

The devout who had assembled at the mosque for their customary prayers on Bakrid were in for a surprise this morning and exchanged pleasantries.

There are separate enclosures for women in this mosque, it is said.

Back home, Sania’s parents – Imran and Nasima – ensured that everything was in place for the quiet celebrations of the festival.

With Sania taking a break from the tennis circuit after finishing at a highly creditable World No. 12 in doubles and Shoaib back after a stint with the Pakistan team in the recent T-20 World Cup, the couple are in Hyderabad now.

The two sports ambassadors of India and Pakistan are special invitees, along with other celebrities, for the F-1 race in Delhi on Sunday.
